We are looking for a full-time Laboratory Technician to support a research program focused on brain cancers. The position is located in the laboratory of Dr Jerome Fortin at the Montreal Neurological Institute (The Neuro). The technician will perform a variety of in vitro and in vivo experiments dedicated to understand how brain tumors emerge, evolve, and could be treated.Major Duties and Responsibilities:Execute complete experimental pipelines for bulk and single-cell multi-omic profiling (RNA-sequencing, ChIP-sequencing, CUT&RUN, ATAC-sequencing, methylation-sequencing, etc.), starting from cell/tissue preparation, followed by single cell capture, library preparation, and next-generation sequencing.Perform molecular and cellular biology assays, including cell culture, western blotting, PCR, and similar techniques.Performing in vivo experiments in genetically engineered mice, including breeding colony management, genotyping, drug administration and tissue dissection.Participate in various projects in the laboratory, and assist trainees with parts of their studies.Design and perform experiments. Write and present reports of the experimental results.Help with the general organization and day-to-day operations of the laboratory. This will include, for example, ordering materials and reagents needed for experiments.The list of duties and responsibilities outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an employee whose position has been matched to this generic job description.Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:Bachelor’s DegreeStrong experience in handling laboratory rodents (particularly mice).Ability to administer drugs to mice (gavage, intraperitoneal and intravenous).Strong experience and excellent ability to perform molecular and cellular biology assays (e.g. cell culture, PCR, western blotting, etc.).Experience in next-generation sequencing techniques (e.g. nuclei acid extraction, sample preparation, single-cell processing/capture, library construction) is an asset.Possesses excellent organizational and time management skills.Proficient in understanding, following and accurately implementing new protocols.Excellent collaborative skills and ability to work in a team.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Applicants should provide a CV and a Cover Letter.
