ABOUT US:At New School Foods, our mission is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable food system. Using our proprietary and purpose-built production technologies, we are creating the next generation of meat and seafood alternatives, which are designed to appeal to the average consumer. Our first product is a delicious plant-based salmon filet that looks, cooks, tastes and flakes like the real thing full of Omega 3' and protein. All with a lower carbon footprint, zero mercury, and made without harming the ocean.ABOUT THE ROLE:We are a fast-growing, mission-driven team. Our R&D Assistants will play an important role in bridging the gap between product development and production. In this role, you will help validate and test new ingredients, formulas, production processes and equipment.AS A R&D ASSISTANT YOU WILL:
  • Responsible for completing (part of) an experimental plan with high quality and independence
  • Assist in gathering and analyzing data from experiments production trials
  • Writing and testing standard operational procedures (SOPs)
  • Play an active role in keeping the work area safe, clean, and organized
  • Identify areas for increased optimization and work with the team to create and implement solutions.
  • Familiarize and hold yourself accountable to all quality and sanitation standards, policies and procedures, escalating any issues and/or deficiencies when you see them.
YOU WILL BRING:
  • A Bachelors in a Science related field and experience in a lab setting.
  • Experience working with or on a commercial food production line is a bonus
  • Understanding and knowledge of various laboratory instruments and tools in scientific experimentation and data analysis.
  • Adaptable in a high paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs.
  • High attention to detail.
