This is your chance to bring your plant design and piping expertise to projects that power communities and industries across Canada. As a Senior Plant Designer, you'll play a key role in developing efficient, safe, and constructible plant layouts while elevating digital delivery methods for multi-disciplinary engineering teams.Whether supporting industrial, energy, mining, or infrastructure-related facilities, you'll influence how designs take shape - from early concept models to detailed piping layouts. Your technical insight and leadership will help teams deliver clear, coordinated, and high-quality design packages that stand up to real-world conditions.Your Impact
- Develop and refine plant layouts, including equipment arrangements, access/maintenance considerations, and multi-discipline spatial coordination.
- Lead the creation of 3D piping models, routing concepts, isometrics, and detailed deliverables aligned with project and client requirements.
- Establish, improve, and govern design workflows, ensuring consistency in modelling, tagging, data structures, and drawing output.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, structural, electrical, process, and civil teams to integrate design intent and resolve layout challenges early.
- Apply your understanding of constructability, safety, and operational requirements to influence design decisions and reduce rework.
- Troubleshoot complex modelling issues and implement solutions that strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and model integrity.
- Mentor designers and junior team members, fostering strong digital design habits and advancing team capability.
- Evaluate emerging digital tools, modelling technologies, and automation opportunities to advance WSP's plant-design delivery.
- Significant experience in plant layout and piping design within industrial, energy, mining, or processing environments.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Plant 3D, SmartPlant, CADWorx, MicroStation, or similar plant-design tools.
- Strong understanding of piping components, supports, materials, and industry standards.
- Experience producing 3D models, piping isometrics, GA drawings, and BOMs with a high level of accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to guide teams through digital design workflows and model governance.
- A systems-thinking mindset committed to quality, clarity, and continuous improvement.
- Experience developing templates, automations, or custom configurations that improve modelling efficiency.
