- Prepare electronic documents in AutoCAD, Microstation, Solid Edge, SolidWorks and other relevant CAD tools.
- Create precise 3D models for design and visualization, using Model-Based Definition (MBD) to define all product specifications.
- Follow client driven file management system for document storage.
- Prepare engineering deliverables for both nuclear and conventional systems in accordance with AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc./Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
- Apply relevant Codes & Standards and regulatory requirements and coordinate with design team to ensure compliance.
- Interface with Engineering teams, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.
- Must be “Team” oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with other and promote a positive work environment.
- College diploma or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 9 years in mechanical design and drafting.
- Individuals are expected to have advanced knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD applications. Such as AutoCAD or MicroStation and SolidWorks.
- Familiar with machine design, GD&T (including ASME Y14.5 standards, symbol interpretation, and tolerance analysis), and welding principles (MIG, TIG, arc welding, and welding symbol representation).
- Good understanding of mechanical design principles. Understanding manufacturing processes (machining, welding, and additive manufacturing) and their influence on design decisions.
- Revise existing drawings/3D models (relative to the discipline) from detailed verbal or written instructions, and/or marked up drawings.
- Prepare drawings/3D models (relative to the discipline) of high complexity. As requested, implement any necessary design changes, calculations and materials selection – with minimal assistance from more senior staff.
- Ensure CAD file configuration management and storage are as per procedure.
- ASME Code knowledge considered an asset.
- Ability to take marked up engineering drawings and incorporate changes into drawing and modelling files.
- Recognized as a technical leader, providing mentoring and technical leadership and supporting larger or more complex projects through subject‑matter expertise.
- Develops and maintains CAD procedures and standards to support quality and consistency.
- Plans and organizes work, contributes to estimates and schedules, and proactively supports on‑time, on‑budget deliver.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff in a team environment as well as independently.
- Perform other related duties as required.
