- Conduct inspections of the work area and meet with field supervisors to discuss any potential problems: help to ensure the adequate supply of safety equipment, such as protective equipment, fire extinguishers, respirators, etc.
- Advise operations regarding Ledcor's Health and Safety Management System, based on a solid understanding of program execution throughout the project lifecycle
- Monitor compliance with jurisdictional regulatory requirements
- Assists in the coordination and completion of safe work procedures, hazard assessments, safety inspections, focus audits and incident investigations
- Verify compliance with leading and lagging indicators, including subcontractors as well as any identified corrective actions
- Conduct the HS&E Orientation to employees and subcontractors during project onboarding.
- Provide support to site leadership in the preparation of site-specific material for safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Support the coordination, organization and delivery of project toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Develop and enhance Job Hazard Analysis and Safe Work Practice documents based on existing materials
- Monitor and report on the overall effectiveness of the overall implementation of project HS&E plans
- Audit the quality of the field level hazard assessments and incident investigation reports for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with the implementation of occupational hygiene practices and have awareness of medical screening programs
- 5+ years of related work experience within the industry
- Must hold a CRSP, Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or NCSO designation
- Has developed technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment within the Industrial Industries – experience on mountainous pipeline projects considered an asset
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information to the hourly workforce, while also effectively interacting with project management staff, clients, and customers
- Ability to provide a proactive approach to safety, to include identification of operational and organizational issues, as well as develop and implement strategies to solve them
- Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, program development, safety & health training, and accident investigation
- Capable of adapting information/style to the audience, explaining difficult information clearly, influencing, and persuading others towards consensus agreement in straightforward situations
- A strong team player attitude with the ability to effectively adjust to changing priorities and demands
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Strong computer competency including experience with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license and driver's abstract
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements
- Flexibility to travel to and work at various project sites will be required
