With a legacy of operational excellence and a forward-looking decarbonization strategy, joining this team means contributing to shaping the energy landscape of tomorrow in an organization that values its people as its most important asset.Position SummaryAs a Wellbeing Specialist, you will serve as a senior subject matter expert within the Total Rewards department-specifically focusing on pensions, health and welfare benefits, and employee wellbeing. This 6-month contract role supports both Canada and, to a lesser extent, the U.S., with the potential to transition to a permanent position. Your mission is to administer, enhance, and communicate benefit and retirement programs; drive wellbeing initiatives; ensure compliance across jurisdictions; and manage third-party vendors to deliver timely, high-quality service.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Administration & Compliance
  • Administer employee pension and benefits programs-health, dental, disability, life insurance, RRSP/401(k), retirement plans-ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and organizational policies.
  • Execute annual renewals, RFPs, open enrollment, and benefits harmonization initiatives.
  • Support audits, regulatory filings (e.g., CRA, IRS, DOL), and benefits/payroll reconciliations.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Liaise with third-party providers, brokers, and internal stakeholders to manage daily operations and ensure vendors deliver high-quality, aligned services.
  • Oversee vendor activities (e.g., Telus Health, Mercer, Sun Life) consistent with organizational objectives.
Wellbeing Program Development & Delivery
  • Design, launch, and manage wellbeing initiatives and employee assistance programs.
  • Create communication strategies, manage wellness events, and deliver training to increase program awareness and engagement.
  • Partner with internal groups (e.g., ERGs, disability management) to champion mental health and wellness across the organization.
Employee Support & Communication
  • Provide clear guidance to employees and managers on benefits and retirement-processing inquiries, claims, deductions, contributions, and distributions.
  • Develop and deliver educational materials for employee and manager audiences.
Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate HRIS and benefits system records; conduct data audits, reconciliations, and generate analytics for executives and auditors.
Strategic Project Support
  • Support Total Rewards and broader HR projects: system implementations, acquisitions/divestitures, policy development, pension governance, and wellbeing strategy execution.
  • Contribute to board-level materials and strategic planning.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in benefits and pension administration, ideally in both Canadian and U.S. contexts (corporate or union environments).
  • CEBS, CPS, SHRM-SCP, or CPHR certification is a significant asset.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft) and MS Excel-including data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant pension legislation and benefit administration across Canada and the U.S.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capacity with strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in deadline-driven environments.
Working Conditions
  • Hybrid arrangement: typically remote Mondays & Fridays, in-office Tuesdays-Thursdays.
  • Occasional travel may be required for stakeholder or project engagements.
  • Fast-paced role with tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
