
Payroll Specialist

- Administer bi-weekly payroll for salaried, hourly, and contract employees using ADP Workforce Now.
- Process remuneration and expense reimbursements for board members, committee members, and external service providers on a bi-weekly and semi-monthly basis using Payworks.
- Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate and timely processing of new hires, terminations, Records of Employment (ROEs), and payroll adjustments.
- Calculate and manage pension contributions, taxable benefits, and other payroll deductions.
- Reconcile payroll registers with the general ledger, investigate discrepancies, and prepare necessary journal entries.
- Handle year-end reporting, including T4s, T4As, T2200s, and Employer Health Tax filings.
- Maintain up-to-date payroll records and support internal audits and budget planning initiatives.
- Stay informed on payroll regulations and contribute to policy updates and process improvements.
- Respond to employee and stakeholder payroll inquiries while maintaining confidentiality.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll administration, including hands-on processing.
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now is required; experience with Payworks is an asset.
- Post-secondary diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Certification from the National Payroll Institute (e.g., Payroll Compliance Certification) is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of payroll functions, benefit calculations, and accounting practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in payroll processes.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality.
