The Soillse Research Lab for Cancer Survivorship and Patient Empowerment at Dalhousie University is dedicated to advancing health outcomes and quality of life for individuals diagnosed with cancer and chronic disease. Through a collaborative, patient-centered lens, the Lab designs, implements, and evaluates evidence-based education and lifestyle interventions, including the flagship initiative: the Prostate Cancer Patient Empowerment Program (PC-PEP). Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Coordinator will support the day-to-day implementation of clinical trials and research activities within the Soillse Research Lab.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate participant recruitment, screening, informed consent and onboarding processes and communicate directly with patients in a professional, caring, and considerate manner.
  • Schedule and manage participant visits, follow-ups, and study activities.
  • Support delivery of intervention components (e.g., videoconferences, onboarding, study materials).
  • Independently develop, manage, and maintain clinical trial databases (e.g., REDCap, including longitudinal design, branching logic, and data quality oversight).
  • Maintain and organize study documentation (protocols, consent forms, SOPs, logs), and independently prepare and submit REBapplications, amendments, renewals, and reports; develop SOPs as needed.
  • Prepare grant progress reports and funder reports, track project expenditures, and maintain documentation.
NoteDue to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Sciences, or a related field, plusapproximately three to five years' of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Advanced proficiency in REDCap, including independent design and programming of clinical trial databases (randomization, longitudinal structure, branching logic, and codebook review).
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating randomized clinical trials (RCTs), including participant flow, protocol adherence, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in R and/or SPSS for data cleaning and descriptive analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently prepare and submit REB applications, amendments, renewals, and reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience working with patients and clinicians in a professional and compassionate manner and a demonstrated ability to work independently in coordinating complex clinical trials with minimal supervision in a fast-paced research environment.
Assets
  • Experience with multi-site and/or clinical trial research.
  • Familiarity with ROMEO or other institutional research administration systems.
  • Experience working in multilingual and/or multicultural environments.
  • Bilingual (French and English).
