- Leads the development and implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management system within the Organization at both strategic and operational levels.
- Guides the development of the hazard identification and risk management program and oversees the creation of emergency preparedness and action plans.
- Monitors, interprets, and assesses existing and emerging health and safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and evaluate business impacts, promoting the necessary implementation.
- Conducts research and external surveys to provide relevant information regarding workplace hazards, and creates operational guidelines, procedures, and training resources to mitigate and control hazards and risks.
- Advises business units on the identification, evaluation, control, and management of hazards across the organization.
- Identifies and manages non-compliance issues and escalates relevant information to the Sr. Manager.
- Leads the evolution of the incident investigation and corrective action management system through data analysis, incident prevention programs, and training.
- Develops and tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Health and Safety Program.
- Partners with HR and Facilities on wellness and ergonomic initiatives.
- Promotes and sustains a global approach to health and safety training and awareness.
- Leads and sustains OpenText Health and Safety committees.
- Supports COVID response team.
- Develops and manages Emergency Response plans (Fire Prevention, Bomb Threat, Active assailant, Severe weather)
- Partners with internal client groups (i.e.) Facilities, Human Resources, by liaising with government agencies.
- Leads the development and promotion of Health and Safety communications to build awareness and understanding of the health and safety program.
- Assist with global and regional environmental programs as directed
- A University/Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety or a related science/engineering discipline.
- 5 to 10 years’ experience working within Occupational Health and Safety.
- Progressive experience in Health and Safety is required, with demonstrated knowledge and experience controlling the broad spectrum of risks.
- A strong record of accomplishment preventing injuries, developing/implementing robust processes and management systems, and building productive collaborative relationships with internal/external business partners.
- Credentials from Board of Certified Safety Professionals, The National Examination Board
- Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), or equivalent agency.
- Outstanding collaboration, project management, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong communication skills that support them through the negotiation of successful outcomes with key business leaders
- Strong technical skills and the ability to explain complex issues and requirements in an easily understood manner.
- The ability to apply previous learning and ideas to new situations, projects, and teams, developing creative solutions to manage risk.
- The ability to demonstrate strong business acumen that includes experience working with leaders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience in implementing systems to manage OHS operational risks.
- Experience communicating with country and local Authorities regarding OHS issues.
- Ability to mentor, influence, and advise local employees to achieve positive OHS outcomes
- The ability to produce and maintain timelines, create dashboards, track metrics, and assemble project information into clearly written reports that document findings, actions, and progress.
- Can drive multiple high priority initiatives simultaneously.
- Ability to travel internationally if required to support program initiatives.
