Journeyman Welder – Tank Cleaning Team Lead

- Inspect tanks prior to any welding repairs
- Supervise and assist the team/labourers in safe and efficient tank cleaning and removal of any fuel residues or contaminants
- Prepare large fuel tanks for repair and cleaning with detergents or high- pressure water, removing rust followed by neutralizing and thoroughly drying staying alert to potential hazards
- Follow strict cleaning protocols and ensure tanks are free of flammable gases or other dangerous substances and all safety checks are done before any welding
- Inspections of all tank cleaning sites to ensure compliance with current safety directives and safe work procedures, reporting on any deficiencies.
- Valid Journeyman Welder Certificate combined with minimum 5 years ’welding experience ideally in a unionized environment
- Confined space entry training and certifications
- Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency response
- Proven team leadership/supervisory experience in welding operations with the ability to manage projects, oversee labourers
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clear abstract required
- Physically fit and able to perform physical job functions in all weather conditions
- Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with an ability to read technical documents
- Previous training in WHMIS, First Aid, Working at Heights and Confined Spaces
- Certifications/training in Environmental Awareness, Bear Awareness an asset
- Previous experience working in remote Arctic locations ideal
