
Bilingual Payroll Team Lead (French / English)

- Oversees the daily processing within the department under the guidance of the Payroll Manager.
- Helps coordinate the planning, execution, and accurate processing of the weekly and biweekly payroll processes.
- Provides support to the entire organization regarding all payroll related matters as needed per Payroll Manager.
- Helps reconcile sick and vacation balances for unionised team members as required.
- Monitors, audits and reconciles report totals and balances throughout the payroll related processing cycle to ensure accuracy.
- Assists the Payroll Manager on projects, audits and special requests from internal and external clients.
- Investigates data discrepancies/ errors and resolves them as required.
- Helps respond to inquiries from the Finance team around payroll accounting.
- Helps prepare annual returns for review by the payroll manager as required (T4, T4A's, Releve1, EHT, WCB).
- Provides back up for payroll specialists as needed including being able to process payroll from end to end.
- Monitors federal and provincial legislation updates to help ensure accuracy of the payroll.
- Assists in and leads some of payroll projects and or initiatives with the overall goal of process improvement.
- Assists Payroll manager to refine processes around customer service.
- Seeks opportunities to improve/enhance payroll processes and delivery, provides insights and recommends solutions to Payroll Manager.
- Helps with the quarterly balancing report and any monthly reports that are needed.
- Provides guidance and prioritization for payroll activities to the payroll team, as required.
- Supervises the payroll process to help ensure the accurate administration, remittance and reporting of payroll related activities in compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
- At least 5 years hands on experience in end-to-end payroll operations.
- Experience with year-end processes is required.
- Strong understanding of payroll policies and processes.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with demonstrable expertise in Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good organizational skills, time management, prioritizing, and able to work with deadlines.
- Knowledge and or experience of ADP GlobalView is an asset.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Bilingualism (French/English is required)
- CPM certificate is preferred with a PCP certificate being the minimum requirement.
- Membership of the National Payroll Institute is required.
