- Tender Analysis: Review and thoroughly analyze tender documents, drawings, and specifications to understand the full scope of the project, technical requirements, and commercial terms.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs, ensuring all direct and indirect costs are covered.
- Proposal Development: Develop high-quality, technically compliant, and commercially viable tender submissions, including technical solutions, project plans, and pricing schedules.
- Collaboration: Coordinate and liaise with internal departments (engineering, procurement, sales, operations, legal, risk management) and external stakeholders (clients, suppliers, subcontractors) to gather necessary inputs and ensure all aspects of the tender are addressed.
- Risk Management: Prepare, organize and conduct Risk Reviews when required by the business. Identify and assess potential risks (commercial, technical, financial) associated with tenders and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Compliance: Ensure all proposals and documentation comply with client specifications, industry standards (e.g., ISO, local regulations), and legal requirements.
- Documentation and Submission: Manage and organize all tender documentation, ensure timely submission through the required channels (e.g., online portals), and maintain a comprehensive record-keeping system.
- Clarification and Negotiation: Participate in tender clarification meetings, provide feedback/answers to client questions, and assist in contract negotiations to optimize terms and project outcomes.
- Market Awareness: Stay up to date with market trends, competitor activity, and new industry developments to inform pricing and bidding strategies.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze outcomes of previous tenders to identify areas for improvement in the tendering process and contribute to the development of standardized templates and procedures.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical , Civil, etc.) or a related technical field is an asset.
- Experience: Proven experience (e.g., 2-5 years) in tendering, proposals, cost estimation, or project management within the engineering or manufacturing industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant software such as MS Office Suite (especially Word and Excel), Project Schedule software. Knowledge of other Engineering design software tools is an asset.
