Performing physical protection duties to safeguard personnel, property, and special nuclear materials in accordance with licensing and regulatory requirements. * Implementing site policies and procedures in alignment with nuclear security regulations and company standards.
- Conducting access control, intervention, and investigation activities during normal operations and emergencies.
- Monitoring site conditions, identifying hazards or threats, and taking appropriate actions to prevent or mitigate risk.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all security matters.
- Participating in mandatory and ongoing safety and operational training to maintain qualifications and readiness.
- Assuming accountability for staying current on required training and procedures, and sharing learned knowledge and skills with peers.
- Identifying and reporting real or potential safety hazards, wearing required protective equipment, and adhering to workplace safety and health procedures.
- Working a continuous rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and shifts up to twelve hours.
- Communicating effectively with internal stakeholders and external emergency partners to support coordinated responses.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Education
- Acquiring and maintaining knowledge of computer hardware, software, and systems used in physical security operations.
- Holding and maintaining a valid Class 4 Province of Manitoba driver’s licence.
- Ability to successfully completing Use of Force training and annual re‑qualification.
- Passing mandatory medical, psychological, and physical ability standards as required and meeting these standards annually.
- Understanding off‑shift radiation protection procedures and obtaining required certifications, such as WHMIS and respirator fit testing.
- Demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills and accurate report writing.
- Managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining professionalism and teamwork in a dynamic environment.
- Showing initiative, sound judgement, and the ability to make rapid and reasonable decisions under pressure.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
- Working outdoors for extended periods in adverse weather conditions.
- Working a continuous rotating shift schedule with nights, weekends, holidays, and twelve‑hour shifts.
- This position is part of the IAFF F160 and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the IAFF F160 Collective Agreement.
