Ensuring safe day‑to‑day operations in accordance with procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements. * Assigning work tasks, coordinating schedules, and overseeing staff activities across multiple waste facilities.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of training for personnel.
  • Assisting in preparing operating procedures, manuals, and work plans.
  • Supervising Technicians, Utility Workers, Waste Advisors, Equipment Operators, Trades staff, Radiological Protection (RP) staff, and others.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and maintaining high housekeeping standards.
  • Leading and mentoring staff to support training compliance and skill development.
  • Acting as the Officer‑in‑Charge (OIC) when required, including supporting emergency response.
  • Leading Plan‑of‑Day meetings and ensuring permits, pre‑job briefs, and post‑job reviews are completed.
  • Scheduling work to meet customer commitments and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifying maintenance issues, initiating work requests, and coordinating with planning teams.
  • Developing and reviewing documentation such as operating procedures and waste characterization materials.
  • Conducting interviews, setting goals, and supporting performance appraisals and staff development.
  • Completing facility surveillance tasks, equipment tests, safety meetings, and other operational duties.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
  • Education
A relevant technical college or university diploma and 3–5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. * Experience
  • Supervisory experience in maintenance, industrial facilities, commercial facilities, or equivalent.
  • Experience within the nuclear industry is an asset.
  • Operational experience is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to lead, coach, and motivate staff in a team‑based environment. * Strong organizational and work‑planning skills, including prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain sound judgment, reliability, and composure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of hazards associated with handling radioactive and industrial materials.
  • Familiarity with As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles and hazardous work assessments.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
  • Working schedule: We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Personal Protective Equipment and Clothing (PPE&C) must be worn onsite.
  • Occasional travel to other Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) sites or service providers may be required.
  • Extended hours may be necessary during peak operational needs.
