
Assessment Support Technician

- Input large volumes of data into the assessment and taxation database (TACS), including information related to rent rolls, income and expense statements, cost letters, etc.
- Audit data entry performed by peers and track information on various spreadsheets
- Validate, process, and track Agent Representative Authorization forms (ARAs) and send out Pre-Roll forms according to established timelines
- Update assessment corrections in the TACS database within critical deadlines based on information received from assessors and the Assessment Review Board (ARB)
- Within required timelines, compile reports and ARB information, including ARB complaint forms, ARAs, amended assessment notices, and complaint assignments to assessors; and upload data into TACS and/or POSSE
- Distribute ARB disclosure and rebuttal packages to assessment staff and track in TACS
- Process information requests made under the authority of Section 299/300 of the Municipal Government Act within critical deadlines, including compiling documentation, watermarking sensitive material, and invoicing appropriately
- Track, prepare/compile, and upload sales information using Google Sheets and TACS in order for assessors to complete their sales valuation
- Contact property owners, agents, and other partners to verify that assessment information provided is complete and received in the form required by the Assessment Operations section and by legislation
- Respond to inquiries from property owners, agents, 311, Edmonton Service Centre, and other partners related to information/authorization requests or ARB complaints via various forms (e.g. email, fax, telephone), and ensure responses are in accordance with FOIP and assessment-related legislation
- Assist with monitoring and ordering stationery and supplies
- Other related duties
- Completed high school diploma or GED including business subjects with emphasis on general office practices and/or data entry, or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college
- Minimum two (2) years of diversified experience in general office practices and procedures including assisting in the instruction of less experienced staff
- Working knowledge of TACS and POSSE is an asset
- Accurate data entry skills and proficiency using various computer applications, including Google Workspace
- Ability to learn new programs and applications
- Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to handle large volumes of work under tight timelines
- Must be adaptable, flexible, and well organized
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team and with diverse groups
- Customer service experience with the ability to respond to inquiries (verbally and in writing) in a professional and respectful manner
- Capacity to learn and understand policies, procedures, and legislation related to property assessment functions, and be able to effectively communicate information to external partners and property owners

- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
