Job Description:We are looking for an experienced Payroll Supervisor/Manager to join our team on a long-term contract basis. Based in Toronto, Ontario, this role involves overseeing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing benefits administration for employees. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in payroll systems, compliance, and employee support, along with a proactive approach to process improvement.Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and process semi-monthly payroll, including onboarding new hires, managing terminations, and processing salary adjustments.
  • Ensure accurate calculation, reconciliation, and remittance of payroll deductions, statutory withholdings, and garnishments.
  • Maintain compliance with year-end reporting requirements, including preparing T4s, W-2s, and other necessary forms.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing payroll and benefits inquiries, resolving issues, and offering guidance to employees.
  • Administer benefit programs, including enrollment, orientation, and invoice reconciliation, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Oversee leave administration, including statutory leaves, short-term and long-term disability, and other absence programs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Finance to ensure accurate payroll reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Prepare and maintain payroll documentation, reports, and records for audits and management review.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including benefit carriers and brokers, to address claims, compliance issues, and renewals.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to optimize payroll and benefits operations.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll management or a related field.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, and other similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, including statutory requirements and year-end reporting processes.
  • Experience in benefits administration, including enrollment, claims management, and compliance reporting.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting tools such as Crystal Reports and general ledger reconciliation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and resolve employee inquiries effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in payroll and benefits processes.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
