- Develop of design plans and methodology.
- Provide technical instructions to junior staff, as needed.
- Ensure Compliance with applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations, and ensuring the adequacy of design for permits and compliance with approved plans.
- Formulate and developing advanced techniques and concepts in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Develop conceptual design, preliminary design and detailed design deliverables including calculations, layouts and sketches, drawings, technical specifications etc.
- Prepare/Review detailed design calculations and analysis for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry elements as per the relevant CSA Standards and applicable codes.
- Compile engineering packages.
- Coordinate structural work with the work of other engineering disciplines.
- Perform design review or design verification on technical documents prepared by others.
- Ensure the quality and consistency, accuracy, and completeness of engineering deliverables.
- Compliance with applicable QA procedures and being responsible for producing quality work.
- Provide technical guidance and applying sound Engineering principles to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical guidance and Engineering support for performing design and construction activities.
- Deliver all technical engineering deliverables/task within specified timelines and budgets.
- Investigating and reporting on field problems.
- Perform walk-downs and inspections.
- Adhere to applicable code, standard and regulatory requirements.
- Support analysis of structural systems and elements as required using Analysis Software programs such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI and other structural programs.
- Assist in timely and quality project delivery.
- Assist supporting Engineers in day-to-day engineering activities and coordination.
- Prepare/Review technical specification documents.
- Ensure the quality and consistency, accuracy, and neatness of engineering deliverables.
- Apply sound engineering principles to assigned engineering activities.
- Accountable for the delivering all engineering deliverables/task to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets.
- Assist the Team Lead for work plans and deliverables and ensure adequacy of scopes, budgets and schedules.
- Provide technical instructions to Junior staff or designers to develop engineering documentation.
- Review and comment on the work performed by the others to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation.
- Check the work performed meets the quality requirements in accordance with Company QA programs and manuals.
- Provide engineering input and support to Field Engineering groups.
- Obtain inputs as required from plant commissioning, operations, and maintenance personnel and client engineering and scientific specialists in interfacing disciplines.
- Participate in formal engineering design and other reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question.
- Prepare Engineering estimate and technical write-up for proposals.

- Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University with minimum 12 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings.
- Master’s degree and above is an asset.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, in good standing:
- Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design-office and site experience.
- Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering principles gained through a combination of design-office and site experience.
- 3 to 5 years of site or field experience in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings is an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards used in Civil/Structural engineering.
- Thorough knowledge of use of at least one Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering such as Staad Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, etc.
- Must have experience with static, dynamic, and seismic analysis of structures and foundations.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft office and Mathcad.
- Adequate knowledge of established Nuclear QA guidelines, procedures and practices is preferable.
- Adequate knowledge of applicable nuclear safety codes and regulations is an asset.
- Sound knowledge of Civil/Structural Engineering principles.
- Knowledge of modification process of Nuclear Power Plant; ECC process or similar is an asset.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience working collaboratively in a dynamic team-oriented environment.
- Must undertake assigned engineering work independently.

- Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
- Travel to client site is required.
