With your help, we can build extraordinary things that co-exist, and benefit local communities and habitats.Senior Hydrotechnical EngineerHatch is currently seeking a talented Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our engineering group in Mississauga. This is a leadership position that requires focus on growing our local client base by executing challenging projects and enhancing brand recognition while ensuring technical excellence within a growing team. You will require a strong technical background in Civil Engineering Hydrology and Hydraulics and exceptional writing and interpersonal skills.Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing and/or supporting studies and projects generally concentrated within the water resources and water management sectors as related the energy, infrastructure, and mining/industrial sectors.
  • Overseeing engineering analyses and designs in collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Preparing detailed technical reports, drawings, specifications and correspondence.
  • Maintaining and developing client relationships.
  • Identifying key opportunities in the Hydrotechnical Engineering Discipline.
  • Developing business, writing proposals and engaging/presenting to clients.
  • Mentorship and development of junior engineers, designers and technicians.
  • Undertaking technical reviews of documents and technical drawings prepared by the team.
Qualifications and ExperienceEssential:
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources and/or Civil Engineering Hydrology and Hydraulics.
  • Registered, or licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • Led or contributed to Area Drainage Studies, including municipal and industrial infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience in a variety of Civil Engineering Hydrology and Hydraulics applications such as Water Resources, Rail Drainage, Flood Control and Protection, and Stormwater Management Planning,
  • Proven experience in the types of analyses and design processes required by the Federal and Provincial Guidelines and Regulations.
  • Leadership skills with a proven aptitude to mentor and develop junior engineers, designers and technicians.
  • Team focused with excellent interpersonal skills and understanding of multidisciplinary projects.
  • Client responsive with a history of successful business development
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills in both French and English.
  • Good working knowledge of specialized Hydrotechnical software and modeling tools (e.g. HEC-RAS(1D/2D), PCSWMM, InfoWorks) including GIS and Civil3D based applications. Experience with MIKE models would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately,
Preferred:
  • Previous consulting engineering experience.
  • Industry recognized expertise in a field or specialization.
  • Post graduate education (M.Sc., M.Eng. or equivalent).
  • Multilingual, particularly English and French.
