- Overseeing a team of Technologists / Scientists, Senior Technologists / Senior Scientists, and other junior staff, ensuring that Corporate Standards are met in all regards.
- Delegating responsibilities and providing direction, training and mentorship to junior staff according to ECOH standards and techniques.
- Ensuring an environment of good communication so that employees’ concerns are addressed.
- Working with the Operations Manager to ensure that project resources meet or exceed established guidelines for standards of performance.
- Serving as the link between the junior staff and the Operations Manager to identify and close training gaps.
- Providing consistent constructive and meaningful feedback to junior staff.
- Participating in the Employee Development Program (EDP) and providing relevant and meaningful input with respect to the reviews of the assigned team.
- Communicating with the Operations Manager to provide information related to assigned staff (progression, issues, developments).
- Assisting in the recruiting and training of additional staff.
- Acting as project manager and technical lead, responsible for planning, supervising and leading geotechnical investigations and design activities.
- Develop and prepare technical scopes of work, schedules and budgets for proposals and projects.
- Prepare, review and sign-off/stamp Geotechnical Reports for roads, subdivisions, towers, bridges, buildings, municipal infrastructure etc., to meet the scope of work and regulatory requirements. Leading proposal teams and presentations.
- Leading and participate on multi-disciplinary, multi-geographic project teams.
- Performing related administrative tasks including documentation of project activities, office administration, expense reports, purchase orders, invoicing support, etc.
- This position may have field component with regards to completing field activities and training of junior staff.
- Management of Client and their expectations.
- Participating in project and financial management including financial analysis.
- Maintaining quality control, quality assurance and policy compliance
- Participate in marketing activities and client development.
- Providing presentations and publishing technical articles.
- Ensuring all aspects of health and safety compliance.
- A University degree in Earth Sciences or Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering is required.
- Professional accreditation – P.Geo. (Ontario) or P.Eng. (Ontario) designation is required.
- A minimum of 15 years experience in a related field/industry as a Geotechnical Engineer/Geoscientist.
- Experience in managing and working on a variety of sizes and types of multi-disciplinary projects for various client types. Experience in hydrogeological investigations will be a plus.
- Strong understanding of Municipal, Provincial and Federal regulations.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including (if required) respiratory protection, specialized clothing, work boots, hard hats hearing protection, fall arrest, etc.
- Ability to lift boxes, equipment and/or coolers not exceeding 20kg.
- Time and resource management- ability to provide field staff with the appropriate direction, guidance, and instructions.
- Ability to provide feedback to staff consistently, constructively, and appropriately.

- Valid driver’s license and adequate insurance must be maintained at all times.
- General to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge and understanding of other technical related software programs (as required).
