About the OpportunityJOB SUMMARYThe International Payroll Manager is accountable for the running of the payroll in the UK and Canada and managing the Payroll Lead – Canada and the Payroll Coordinator - London. These include Gross to Net calculations for all staff for each pay period, compliance with all HMRC/CRA and benefits requirements, as well as supporting the work required to deliver all necessary regulatory reporting to other external bodies where applicable. This position reports to the Director of Payroll Services.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of Canadian and/or UK regulations relevant to payroll, including tax, wage and hour, hiring, termination, compensation, leaves, and hourly labor practices. Ability to demonstrate agility and dedication to upskill on the payroll rules and regulations in whichever jurisdiction the candidate lacks experience. Knowledge and skills required for this position are typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or Business plus at least five years of experience, some of which should be in a leadership capacity. Prefer experience with Workday and/or ADP and background in higher education.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIESStaff Management 50%Oversee and manage payroll staff by providing day-to-day guidance, direction and support. Reviews payroll audits to ensure accuracy of each payroll run.Payroll Transactions 35%Provide Accounting with complete and accurate monthly payroll and deduction calculations and coordinate with accounting to record payroll transactions in the general ledger.Ensure the payroll staff collaborate with HR Operations, colleges/divisions, and others to continuously improve payroll related transactions.Compliance Support 15%Support compliance with all applicable regulations and tax obligations in each jurisdiction and ensure payments are remitted to the relevant agencies in a timely manner.Monitor payroll tax and benefit law in each jurisdiction to ensure timely updates are made as needed.Position TypeFinanceAdditional InformationNortheastern University considers factors such as candidate work experience, education and skills when extending an offer.Northeastern has a comprehensive benefits package for benefit eligible employees.
