Join Our Team as a Automation & Controls Technical Lead at Johnson Electric!Location: Ancaster, ON, Canada (onsite)Salary Range: 90,000 - 110,000 CAD annuallyVacancy Type: Existing positionYour Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:In this role, you will serve as a "hands-on" Controls Lead/working lead position, responsible for the programming, commissioning, and support of automated production and test equipment. You will work closely with Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Project teams to bring automation projects from concept through startup while acting as a technical go-to for controls-related topics. Note: This role does not have direct people-management accountability and remains primarily hands-on in nature. This role is ideal for a controls professional who enjoys remaining deeply technical while providing day-to-day guidance and coordination for a small team of Controls Specialists.Why You’ll Love Working Here:Recognition Programs: Programs that recognize and reward employee achievements and contributions.Strong Leadership: Work under experienced and visionary leaders who guide the company towards success.Innovation Hubs: Access to state-of-the-art facilities and innovation hubs that foster creativity and development.Employee Empowerment: A culture that empowers employees to take initiative and make impactful decisions.What You’ll Be Doing:Programming, debugging, commissioning, and supporting automated production and test equipmentPLC, HMI, robot, vision, motion, and safety controller programmingElectrical troubleshooting and support for automation equipmentSupporting new equipment build, installation, and run-at-rate validationParticipating in design reviews and project progress meetingsProviding technical guidance and mentoring to Controls SpecialistsSupporting standardization of controls hardware, software, and networksCollaborating with Manufacturing and Program teams to meet project schedulesMaintaining equipment documentation and controls standardsOccasional travel to other Johnson Electric facilities as requiredWhat We’re Looking For:Technical diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or similar5+ years hands-on experience in an industrial automation / controls environmentStrong, hands-on experience with:PLC programming (Allen-Bradley and/or Omron)Industrial robot programming (Fanuc, Yaskawa, or KUKA)Practical knowledge of:Electrical systems and troubleshootingPneumatic and hydraulic systemsControls networks (EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, etc.)Experience supporting:Automated assembly linesRobotic cellsManufacturing or test equipmentAbility to work onsite and support equipment commissioning activitiesStrong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionallyHow to Apply:
