Join Our Team as a Lead Controls Specialist-Automation at Johnson Electric!Location: Ancaster, ON, Canada (onsite)Salary Range: 90,000 - 110,000 CAD annuallyVacancy Type: Existing positionYour Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:Responsible for programming, debugging, installation, and startup of new or modified production and test equipment, focusing on electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls installation. Lead a team of Controls Specialists, providing support, guidance, and direction. Maintain equipment documentation systems by obtaining and updating technical reference manuals, instructions, and electrical schematics for long-term service.Why You’ll Love Working Here:Recognition Programs: Programs that recognize and reward employee achievements and contributions.Community Engagement: Opportunities to participate in community service and corporate social responsibility initiatives.Strong Leadership: Work under experienced and visionary leaders who guide the company towards success.Innovation Hubs: Access to state-of-the-art facilities and innovation hubs that foster creativity and development.Employee Empowerment: A culture that empowers employees to take initiative and make impactful decisions.What You’ll Be Doing:Ensuring the adherence to ISO 45001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 9001 all Stackpole International policies and any other industry standards in all activitiesReports to the Manufacturing ManagerCollaborate with Mechanical Design, Project, and Process Management teams to support the design, build, and commissioning of new automation equipment, including assembly lines, robotic cells for material handling, test equipment, and similar systemsResponsible for leading a team of Controls SpecialistsParticipates in design review and reports daily progress for meetingsSupports labour cost estimates and coordinates in-house, and subcontractors actions as neededCompletion of run-at-rate process performance testing in conjunction with manufacturing operationsDevelops and maintains programming checklists to ensure program validationProvide technical support and troubleshooting as neededOffers guidance to everyone to foster and encourage personal developmentSupport the creation of training requirementsDetermine budget requirements for new products and design toolsAdhere to JE Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Production SystemsSet and uphold standards for controls, programming, and electrical designKnowledge of electrical design, including component selection and basic electrical troubleshootingServe as a Technical Lead Hand and team member to plan, direct, coordinate, and assist with the installation of new automated assembly equipmentComprehend and align with the short and long-term objectives of the Controls TeamProgramming PLCs, HMIs, robots, vision and motion systems, safety controllers etc.Set up of controls networks (Ethernet/IP, Ethercat …)Recommend processes, procedures, components and methods for standardizationCollaborates closely with the Controls Team and Program Managers to establish schedules and monitor project timelines, ensuring customer satisfaction and on-time delivery complianceCustomer support during equipment commissioningContinuously improving standards and systems to improve overall performance effectivenessTravel among Johnson Electric locations as requiredOther duties as assigned / requiredWhat We’re Looking For:A technical degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar and relevant industrial experience5+ yrs experience in an automation/controls environmentHands on technical skills with respect to Electrical Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems.Expert level in PLC programming (Omron NJ/Allen Bradley) and Robot programming (Fanuc/Yaskawa/Kuka)Knowledge of Labview based systems and ability to program them is assetUnderstanding of the SQL database and related softwareExcellent communications, negotiating, conflict management, and problem-solving skillsCapable of effective communication, both written and verbal, across all levels of the organizationHigh level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientationFamiliarity with automotive systems and quality requirements in accordance with IATF 16949/ISO9001 operating systemsHow to Apply:
