  • Perform engineering calculations and modeling for various assessments, including:
seepage and stability analysis, pipe and drainage ditch design, hydrology and hydraulics plans, erosion control, solids settling, alternative cover demonstrations, geochemistry, and statistical analyses. * Support the Director of Engineering, civil engineers, and Engineers-in-Training (EITs) in delivering project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Prepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplines.
  • Plan and execute field exploration programs to gather data supporting site investigations and design activities. This may include geotechnical drilling, test pit logging, well installation, development, and sampling.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering, operating, and capital cost estimates.
  • Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior and intermediate engineers, designers, technicians, and technologists.
  • Perform project management duties for capital and maintenance projects.
  • Carry out and document construction observations and construction quality assurance testing for geosynthetics or earthworks on large civil or power projects.
  • Prepare interpretive reports to support the development of engineering designs and construction documents.
  • Develop grading plans and designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Assist with report writing, cost estimating, preparation of specifications, and permitting documents, with senior technical guidance and review.
Required Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering design on mining or industrial projects, covering multiple phases from conceptual studies to detailed design.
  • Strong experience in site development, pipe and open-channel hydraulics, and mine access road design.
  • Experience in tailings or slurry pipeline design is considered an asset.
  • Experience in stormwater management, including runoff calculations and the sizing of ditches, culverts, and ponds.
  • Good understanding of coordinate systems and survey controls.
  • Experience interpreting and applying geotechnical recommendations to civil designs.
  • Experience in writing technical reports and specifications, and preparing quantity take-offs for cost estimates.
  • General knowledge of civil engineering design and an understanding of industry codes, mining laws and
  • regulations, standards, and construction methods.
  • Bilingual (French/English) with strong written and verbal proficiency in both languages. The role involves regular communication with internal and external partners across Canada and in the United States, both written and spoken, in English.
