Montreal (Hybrid work model - depending on location)You will be part of our mechanical team specializing in mechanical systems, piping, material handling, and pumping systems. You will be exposed to a variety of situations that will allow you to develop your technical expertise in pumping systems for different industrial process applications, including material handling (conveyors, feeders, silos, chutes, crushing and grinding), dust collection, noise mitigation, pumps, piping, dewatering, roasters, coolers, quench chambers, and more.
You will also be required to support engineers from various disciplines as well as the construction team, and to play an active role during system commissioning and troubleshooting of pumping systems.Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical equipment and industrial systems for mining operations (crushing, grinding, material handling, pumping, ventilation, etc.).
  • Perform preliminary and detailed design studies, including mechanical calculations, sizing, and component selection.
  • Produce and review drawings, technical specifications, and 2D/3D models in accordance with applicable standards and client requirements.
  • Participate in the analysis of operating constraints in mining environments (high loads, abrasion, corrosion, harsh conditions).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (process, electrical, instrumentation, civil) to ensure optimal integration of mechanical solutions.
  • Conduct failure, reliability, and maintainability analyses of mechanical equipment.
  • Select materials and mechanical components based on operating conditions, costs, and equipment life cycle considerations.
  • Ensure design compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (CSA, ISO, mining standards, health and safety).
  • Participate in design reviews and technical evaluations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, technical data sheets, and supplier documentation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of designs to optimize equipment performance, safety, and durability.
  • Perform site visits to mining facilities for data collection, construction follow-up, and technical support.
  • Participate in cost estimation, work planning, and adherence to project schedules.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculation notes, and design documentation.
  • Provide basic technical mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
Required Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in engineering and design within an industrial environment.
  • Experience with design registration of power piping systems.
  • Experience with design modifications and alterations of pressure vessels in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1, with regulatory authorities.
  • Experience using engineering software such as PipeFlo, AutoPipe, Caesar, Compress, Tank, AFT Arrow, AFT Impulse, and SolidWorks.
  • Experience preparing procurement data sheets, technical specifications, and engineering and construction work packages.
  • Strong team spirit and ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
  • Availability and willingness to travel for short periods to project offices or international sites (asset).
  • Bilingual (French/English) with strong verbal and written proficiency in both languages. You will regularly interact with internal and external partners across Canada and the United States in English, both orally and in writing.
