  • Act as an operational lead for a team of designers within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Produce mechanical drawings and plant designs using MicroStation V8, E3D, AutoCAD, as well as other 2D and 3D tools for mining projects.
  • Extract drawings from 3D models.
  • Perform research and analysis and recommend design solutions.
  • Diagnose, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document engineering solutions.
  • Understand project objectives, including client requirements.
  • Read, understand, and review equipment drawings and specifications provided by manufacturers.
  • Review 3D models.
  • Review 3D models and drawings produced by other team members.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables related to layouts and facilities.
  • Provide mentorship and supervise the design team.
  • Provide support for systems and tools, including the Bentley software suite (OpenPlant Modeler, OpenPlant P&ID, etc.).
  • Provide regular feedback to the Lead Mechanical Engineer regarding the progress of deliverables.
  • Collaborate and coordinate design activities with client representatives.
  • Participate in and contribute to proposal preparation.
  • Become familiar with EXP standards and guidelines.
Required Profile
  • College diploma (DEC) in civil engineering or another relevant field.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in design and implementation within heavy industry.
  • Design experience, ideally within a consulting engineering firm (preference will be given to candidates with mining project experience).
  • Experience with Bentley, OpenPlant, or MicroStation 3D.
  • Good understanding of project execution, including activities, interfaces, and interdependencies between disciplines.
  • Organized, autonomous, proactive, and detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of engineering design, engineering codes, and technical standards.
  • Required experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering standards, codes, and guidelines, as well as technical systems coordination.
  • Knowledge of mining processes is a strong asset.
