- Own and maintain EDE design standards, guidelines, templates, and best‑practice documentation (drawings, models, BOMs, naming conventions, and documentation structure).
- Ensure standards align with regulatory requirements, internal engineering policies, and manufacturing constraints.
- Serve as the subject‑matter expert for interpretation and application of EDE design standards.
- Ensure alignment with corporate and external standards (CSA, ASME Y14, ISO, ANSI, and internal Silent‑Aire standards).
- Govern updates through defined review, approval, and communication processes.
- Lead periodic reviews to address gaps, inefficiencies, and recurring design issues.
- Support change management activities for new or revised standards, including communication and rollout.
- Act as the primary EDE contact for standards interpretation and application.
- Review design and drafting outputs (as needed or on a sampling basis) for standards compliance.
- Support Design Review and CoLab processes from a standards‑compliance perspective.
- Identify recurring non‑conformances and drive corrective actions through clarification or updates to standards.
- Coordinate standards alignment between EDE and Design Engineering (DE) to ensure consistency across construction packages, submittals, and drawings.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Sustaining Engineering to incorporate manufacturability, inspection, and lifecycle feedback into standards.
- Support peer reviews and standards interpretation without acting as a design authority or engineer of record.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and reduce complexity in drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
- Support the development of standard parts, modules, and design patterns.
- Capture lessons learned and integrate them into standards, guidelines, and training materials.
- Develop and maintain training materials related to EDE design standards.
- Support onboarding and upskilling of engineers and designers on standards, tools, and expectations.
- Act as a subject‑matter resource for standards‑related questions across EDE.
- Consistent application of EDE design standards across drawings, models, and BOMs.
- Reduced rework and improved alignment between DE, EDE, and Manufacturing.
- Clear, usable, and adopted standards (not shelfware).
- Improved design quality, clarity, and scalability of EDE deliverables.
- Faster onboarding and stronger design execution through improved documentation and training.
- Serve as the single source of truth for EDE standards interpretation.
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in equipment design, drafting, or engineering support within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of engineering drawing standards and documentation best practices (e.g., ASME Y14).
- Experience with 3D CAD and PLM systems (e.g., Creo, Windchill).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to apply standards consistently.
- Clear communicator capable of working effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Experience in HVAC or industrial equipment manufacturing.
- Prior involvement in standards development, governance, or process improvement.
- Familiarity with ECR/ECM change management processes.
- Experience supporting design reviews or audit‑type activities.
