
Labourer II / Truck Driver III

- Carry out a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks related to pothole repair, concrete repair, litter control and other related duties
- Maintain and operate basic tools and equipment such as pumps, tampers, jackhammers, small rollers, and all equipment related to the task
- Ensure all work is to be performed in accordance with the Branch's Occupational Health & Safety Program and Enviso - Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
- Perform manual sidewalk cleaning, sweep sand from centre medians, load trucks and complete other general labourer duties as operationally required
- Other duties as requried
- Operate a tandem or single axle sand/plow while engaged in snow and ice control
- Load and unload materials
- Perform routine maintenance duties, such as cleaning the truck box and worksite, and performing routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Be aware of obstacles adjacent to the road to avoid damage to Public Property when operating plow
- Inform the lead hand of any on-the-road issues with equipment or observed accident or property damage
- General labour including but not limited to: brushing, manual sidewalk cleaning, sanding, snow shoveling, pothole repairs, manually spread sand on icy areas and other snow and ice-related duties
- Ensure all work is to be performed in accordance with the Branch's Occupational Health & Safety Program and Enviso - Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
- Other related duties as required
- Completion of grade 10
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in operating tandem or single axle sander/plow while engaged in snow and ice control, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- 1 year labourer experience related to district programs, i.e. pothole repair, etc
- City of Edmonton trained and pass on plow/sander
- National Safety Code (NSC) course
- Knowledge of PARS SOPs, hazards and safety precautions
- Knowledge of the daily maintenance required on equipment and vehicles
- Ability to perform manual labouring duties
- Ability to work in the presence of asphalt, concrete, dust and noise in inclement weather and adverse traffic conditions
- Ability to keep accurate documentation on daily activity cards
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style
- Conduct work in a manner that complies with the requirements set out in the City's Environmental Management System (EMS)

- Successful candidates will be fit for a respirator, and compliance with the City of Edmonton's Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment, including medical monitoring, is a requirement of this position
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as wearing steel toed boots, is a requirement for this position
- Ability to work at various locations around the City, including areas that may not be reachable by public transit and satellite locations from trailers that will move throughout the summer season
- Valid Alberta Class 3 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with Air Brake endorsement (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position

Salary Range:
- Labourer II: $33.209 (Hourly); $69,340.390 (Annually)
- Truck Driver III: $33.987 (Hourly); $70,964.860 (Annually)
