By listening to patients and partners, we strive to connect communities to the right care, at the right place, and at the right time.Position:Data Governance Consultant, Full Time Location: Hybrid – Remote with on-site presence at any WRHN location as requiredSummary:The Data Governance Consultant will establish and operationalize enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards across WRHN. This position is responsible for advancing WRHN’s data maturity by implementing data stewardship models, ensuring data quality and compliance, facilitating cross-functional governance initiatives, and building organizational data literacy in support of WRHN’s Data Strategy.Responsibilities:Data Governance Framework Implementation
  • Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Establish data classification, metadata management, and data lineage practices.
  • Coordinate data stewardship across clinical, operational, and administrative areas.
  • Facilitate Data Governance Committee meetings and working groups.
  • Maintain governance documentation including data dictionaries and SOPs. Data Quality Management & Compliance
  • Design and implement data quality frameworks for profiling, monitoring, and remediation.
  • Conduct data quality assessments across systems such as Oracle Health, Power BI, Azure Data Lake, and AWS.
  • Ensure compliance with PHIPA, PIPEDA, and internal data security standards.
  • Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to resolve data integrity issues. Stakeholder Engagement & Data Literacy
  • Serve as liaison between Decision Support, Digital Services, Clinical Operations, Finance, and Innovation teams.
  • Liaise with WRHN’s regional and partner organizations.
  • Facilitate collaboration on enterprise data initiatives including AI governance.
  • Develop and deliver data literacy training programs.
  • Translate technical data governance concepts for diverse audiences and build consensus on standards. Strategic Data Initiatives Support
  • Support enterprise data strategy execution and AI governance development.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations for data governance and data quality tools.
  • Support merger integration through data alignment activities across sites.
  • Provide governance perspectives on analytics, reporting, MDM, and reference data initiatives.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in data governance, with a proven track record of leading or implementing formal data governance programs.
  • Deep, proven knowledge of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data lineage practices.
  • Applied knowledge of PHIPA, PIPEDA, and Ontario regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Track record of strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder facilitation in complex, multi-team environments.
  • Demonstrated success influencing stakeholders and building consensus without direct authority. Preferred Requirements:
  • Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting AI governance and enterprise data strategy.
  • Experience with metadata management, data quality, or MDM platforms.
  • Experience leading governance working groups or committees.
