Reporting to the Regional Payroll & Benefits Manager, this role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across multiple dealership locations.The Payroll Coordinator supports the organization by delivering end-to-end payroll services for a diverse workforce, contributing to operational excellence, employee satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. This position works closely with HR, Finance, and dealership leadership while supporting payroll and benefits administration for a large, fast-paced, and unionized environment.The expected annual salary for this position is $62,000.00 - $68,000.00Primary Duties and Responsibilities· Process weekly and semi-monthly payroll for approximately 150-300 employees, including hourly, salaried, and commissioned staff· Enter and maintain employee data including new hires, status changes, voluntary deductions, and terminations in the payroll system· Calculate and process new hire pay, termination pay, bonuses, retroactive adjustments, and other payroll corrections· Prepare and process off-cycle payroll runs, including final pays and discrepancy resolutions· Ensure accurate calculation and processing of statutory and voluntary deductions, garnishments, and benefits contributions· Prepare, issue, and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) for terminations and leaves· Administer company group benefits, including registering new employees through online benefits platforms· Ensure payroll processing complies with BC employment standards, labour laws, and union agreements· Journalize and post payroll-related entries and support payroll-related general ledger activities· Reconcile monthly payroll accounts as directed and assist with payroll audits and reporting· Prepare on-demand cheques for payroll-related items as required· Collaborate effectively with Payroll team members while managing highly time-sensitive deadlines· Demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills in a high-volume environment· Complete additional payroll and benefits-related tasks as assigned by the Regional Payroll & Benefits ManagerQualifications RequiredEducation & Certifications
Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation required
Experience
3-5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-location organization
Experience processing payroll in a unionized environment
Proven experience managing payroll for a large employee population
Skills & Knowledge
Strong working knowledge of BC labour and employment standards as they relate to payroll
Payroll system experience required; PayWorks experience is considered an asset
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet strict payroll deadlines
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently
