Construction / Building MaterialsA fast-growing, Calgary area entrepreneurial organization in the construction and building materials sector is seeking an experienced Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead operational excellence and support the next phase of scalable growth.The OpportunityReporting directly to the CEO and serving as a core member of the Executive Team, the COO will act as the organizational integrator across multiple operating divisions. This is a hands-on leadership role for a decisive, energetic executive who thrives in growth-oriented environments and brings structure, clarity, and accountability to complex operations.The successful candidate will play a critical role in modernizing systems and processes, building leadership capability, driving financial discipline, and fostering a high-performance culture aligned with long-term strategy.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and integrate operations across multiple business units and shared services
  • Establish clear operating rhythms, roles, and accountability frameworks
  • Drive process standardization, workflow optimization, and system integration
  • Own execution of operating plans, budgets, and KPI performance
  • Partner closely with the CEO on strategic initiatives and growth execution
  • Develop long-range operational and technology strategies to support scalability
  • Build and mentor a strong leadership team and performance-driven culture
  • Ensure high standards of quality, safety, and operational discipline
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Senior operations leader (COO, VP Operations, Director, GM, or equivalent) with 10+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated success scaling a mid-sized organization into a more structured, mature enterprise
  • Background in construction, manufacturing, building materials, or other process‑intensive industries
  • Strong track record in operational transformation, systems integration, and execution excellence
  • Financially sophisticated with deep experience managing KPI’s and budgets
  • High-energy, low‑ego leader with strong ownership mindset and decision-making speed
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments
