Location: Calgary, AB (Onsite – 5 Days/Week)
Job Type: Contract
Duration: Initial term with extension up to 24 months
Rate: CAD $60/hour (All-inclusive)
Positions: 3About the ClientPetrinex is a strategic initiative operated by the Government of Alberta that supports Canada’s upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas sector. It enables secure, standardized, and efficient exchange of royalty, regulatory, and operational data across multiple provinces, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders.Petrinex plays a critical role in:
- Royalty assessment and reporting
- Regulatory compliance
- Industry data exchange and operations
- Analyze, document, and prioritize system defects and enhancement requests
- Participate in change management discussions with stakeholders
- Perform impact analysis and provide recommendations
- Support system users with troubleshooting, guidance, and issue resolution
- Develop and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) test cases
- Document test results and provide sign-off for production releases
- Ensure system functionality aligns with business and regulatory requirements
- Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications
- Collaborate with developers and stakeholders on solution design and implementation
- Participate in the full project lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment)
- Plan and execute UAT and End-to-End (E2E) testing
- Develop training materials, job aids, and user documentation
- Support data migration, validation, and reconciliation activities
- Assist in stakeholder readiness planning and communication strategies
- Coordinate workshops, working sessions, and stakeholder engagement activities
- Act as liaison between government, regulators, and industry stakeholders
- Participate in industry committees and working groups
- Gather feedback, identify system improvements, and communicate updates
- Support change management and adoption initiatives
- Contribute to roadmap planning and future enhancements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or related field + 2 years BA experience
- Diploma in related field + 4 years BA experience
- Certificate in related field + 5 years BA experience
- 6+ years Business Analyst experience
- 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in enterprise IT environments
- Proven experience translating business requirements into technical specifications
- 5+ years of experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including:
- Test planning
- Test execution
- Status reporting
- Experience creating training materials and technical documentation
- Experience providing system/application support (data validation, data conversion, troubleshooting)
- Strong stakeholder engagement experience (internal & external users)
- Experience working in government or regulated environments
- Knowledge of oil & gas or regulatory reporting systems
- CAPPA Certification (Canadian Association of Petroleum Production Accounting)
