We are looking for driven candidates with a foundational understanding of valuation concepts and a strong willingness to learn.This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop technical expertise and gain hands-on experience in delivering high-quality valuation services. This is a net new role and the successful candidate will support valuation engagements, contribute to client deliverables, and work closely with the team to build their knowledge and skill set in the following areas:Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:As a Financial Analyst, you will play an active role in supporting BDO Canada’s growing portfolio of valuation clients. You will play an active role in carrying out real estate appraisal mandates, in particular:

Work extensively with Excel to perform complex financial analysis.
Develop proficiency with BDO’s real estate valuation workbooks, mapping, and research programs.
Conduct market research and collect/collate relevant sales comparables.
Carry out land use research, including mapping, usage, official plans, and zoning by-laws.
Participate in site inspections as required (some travel may be necessary).
Contribute to the preparation of appraisal reports, client presentations, and proposals.
Liaise with market participants and clients for research and reporting purposes.
Support business development activities by building relationships with current and prospective clients, as well as other BDO service groups.
Perform additional valuation-related tasks as assigned (audit assist, market research reporting, etc).
If interested, contribute to Business Valuations for tax planning, financial reporting, financial planning, and transaction advisory purposes.

Your experience and education

A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or another related field
Willingness to work towards an AACI designation is an asset.
0-2 years of work experience in appraisal, asset management, investments, consulting, etc is considered an asset
An understanding and ability to read financial statements, and other pertinent documents such as leases, sales agreements, and research reports.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
Solid verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
A valid Canadian G-level driver’s license with access to a car is required.
