Client Location: Toronto (Onsite: 7.25 hours/day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday)

Conditions may change based on organizational requirements and at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.About the EngagementAkkodis is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to support a major modernization initiative. The Agency is migrating multiple systems to the Microsoft Azure Cloud (IaaS & PaaS) and enhancing database administration practices across SQL Server and Azure Synapse environments. The Senior DBA will serve as a key technical expert responsible for SQL Server and Azure SQL environments, performance tuning, data warehouse support, cloud database operations, and cross-platform migration initiatives.ScopeMaintain, optimize, and administer both on-prem SQL Server and Azure SQL/Synapse environments.Perform installation, configuration, security hardening, and operations of SQL Server instances and Azure Managed Instances.Monitor database performance, health, availability, and capacity, ensuring proactive detection and resolution of issues.Assignment DeliverablesInstall, configure, secure, operate, and maintain SQL Servers for new server buildsLead development and analysis of database expansions, reorganizations, purging (SQL 2019)Participate in long-term Data Warehouse & Analytics Hub architectureDevelop monitoring processes for data quality, integrity and issue diagnosis.Expertise RequiredMust Have:At least 7- 9 years of proven working experience as a SQL Server (Azure and on-prem)At least 5-year proven experience working experience Azure Synapse AnalyticsExperience extensive experience with SQL server 2012/14/16/19 on Windows and Linux operating system.At least 5 years of experience managing Azure Sql dedicated pool, Data Lake and Server less.Experience on Azure Managed Instance and Azure Sql databaseExperience MS Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900T00), Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) and Administering Microsoft Azure SQL Solutions (DP-300) certification.Nice to Have:Experience with distributed data systemsExperience with middleware and gatewaysExposure to cybersecurity vulnerability remediationSecurity ClearanceRequired.ImportantThis is a business-to-business engagement.
