- Execute the Electrical Engineering activities in the project, including Initiation, coordination, synchronization and review.
- Prepare documentation and electrical designs for technical reviews.
- Use electrical engineering principles in the selection of solenoids, motors, valves, process instrumentation and associated controls needed to meet machine control solutions.
- Confirm electrical system's and component's capabilities and quality by designing testing methods and evaluating properties.
- Lead electrical designs (follow up, analysis, problem solving), verification and reporting.
- Interact with vendors and suppliers to select electrical components/subassemblies that comply with machine requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate details and design criteria with other engineering disciplines on a development project.
- Exhibit a working knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
- Perform routine engineering investigations involving calculations and/or tests in support of current products, new designs, methods, materials, or process studies
- Work as a collaborative team member in engineering projects.
- Work under general supervision with few direct instructions. Carry out routine and semi-routine tasks independently.
- Lead the electrical technical reviews working within the project constraints of schedule, cost, performance, quality and reliability objectives.
- Has no direct reports.
- May lead technical staff (Technicians, Designers).
- Bachelor degree of Engineering
- Minimum 3 years related engineering experience
- Familiar with at least one of the following industry standards: UL, CSA, NEMA, IEC, NFPA, etc…
- Previous experience designing in a regulated research and development environment
- Self motivated and innovative, yet an exceptional product development team player
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, electrical troubleshooting, and electrical testing design
- Familiarity with controlling electromechanical devices such as motors, solenoids, and heaters
- Understanding of embedded hardware design and control technology
- Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC's) is desireable
- Understanding of design and application of various sensor technologies
- Familiarity with user interface technology
- Understanding of machine communication protocols and data acquisition
- Fluent in French, English language level: Intermediary
