What you'll doReporting to the Associate Vice President, Accounting Operations, the Manager, Accounting Policy is responsible for providing IFRS accounting guidance for various complex/unusual transactions. In addition, you will play a key role in keeping the company compliant with IFRS by monitoring the IASB’s updates including IFRIC’s and understanding the impact on the organization. You will work very closely with the accounting teams and the business to broaden your understanding of the processes and systems used to assess whether the company is compliant with standards. When implementation of new standards or business initiatives are required, you will ensure that the appropriate accounting treatment is determined and applied. You will be responsible for establishing a strong rapport with all stakeholders within the organization and work closely with the various accounting teams.Through continuous in-depth research of accounting policies and knowledge of the Company’s operations, you will be a key advisor to management on complex accounting issues.Provide technical IFRS guidance for new complex/unusual transactions. Write position memos to support the accounting treatment adopted.Assess upcoming IFRS changes and determine the impact, if any, to the Company. Write position memos to support the policy assessment.Collaboratively liaise with external auditors on position memos.Maintain/update the Company’s accounting policies to reflect changes in IFRS or business activity, including new IFRIC decisions.Support the external reporting team in assessing appropriate disclosures for regulatory filings.Ensure that all applicable IFRS updates are implemented consistently across the organization in a timely manner.Support annual impairment testing and quarterly impairment indicator assessment process.Work on other special/adhoc projects as required.What you bring:CPA, CA designation is required.Minimum 6 years of experience in a publicly traded company, public accounting firm, or a combination of both.Expert level IFRS technical accounting background.Exceptional research capabilities and proven ability to develop well supported recommendations on complex topics.Demonstrated ability to write technical accounting memos.Compliance and audit experience is an asset.Retail industry experience is an asset.Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.Self-starter and passion for working with the business.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), including the ability to present information clearly and concisely to senior leaders and auditors.Strong analytical, quantitative, organizational and time management skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.#LI-GT1About UsCanadian Tire Corporation, Limited (“CTC”) is one of Canada’s most admired and trusted companies.
