I am looking for a devoted and compassionate Personal Support Worker/companion for my 39-year-old daughter, who is very sweet and sensitive but faces some challenges due to autistic tendencies and health concerns. She functions to a degree of a 5-year-old, and therefore requires constant help and guidance. This role requires a female caregiver with either previous experience or formal training in working with individuals who are mentally challenged. Candidates must be mature, patient, caring, and flexible, with a willingness to learn, adhere to directions given either verbally or in written English, and communicate clearly. This is a contract position without a stipulated time frame, so it's crucial that candidates are knon-smokers. The selected candidate must have a Canadian Social Insurance Number or a Health Care worker Visa, along with a valid driver's license and clear driver's history. Client's vehicle will be provided for use on the job. The potential caregiver should be able to provide a criminal and vulnerable record check, as well as employment references. Responsibilities in this role include bathing, light meal and snack preparation, outings including watching hockey games and skiing, going for walks, picnics, swimming, bowling, and providing guidance with home tasks and volunteer positions. Moreover, the caregiver would also need to spend time with her engaging in group activities, watching TV in the evening, reading to her, coloring with her, preparing her for bed, and administering her medication. Some home maintenance may also be required. The role includes 2 shifts per week, each of 12-hour days, from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm with breaks throughout the day, for instance, the client requires 1 to 1.5 hours of rest in the afternoon. A payment of $300 will be offered for each 12-hour shift. Both live-in and live-out applicants are welcome to apply for this part-time position. The position is located close to a bus stop for convenience and parking is available. Comfortable overnight accommodation with a private kitchenette will be provided during shifts.
