- Take ownership of all activities and functions that impact the assigned projects’ financial, personnel, quality control, schedule, and safety performance
- Complete updates and reports for internal and external stakeholders related to project performance, schedules, and changes and/or challenges on assigned projects as deemed appropriate for the given project
- Analyze, control, enforce project expenditures, field productivity to conform to budgetary requirements
- Oversee the project purchasing and logistics of the project and material
- Act as an agent of business and Client liaison
- Develop relationships and understanding of customer needs and ensure needs/issues are addressed
- Conduct regular site visits and represent the Company in any project-related meetings as required
- Provide technical support to field construction teams
- Facilitate and/or participate in project expectation/information handover
- Review tender pricing versus actual with General Manager/Controller as necessary
- Assist in hiring of manpower by confirming technical ability of candidates
- Provide all required data on project metrics (current, in depth, and intimate knowledge of project details) daily
- Communicate to Field execution leaders (foreman) with daily and weekly targets versus actuals
- Provide immediate and constant technical direction and solutions to ensure procedural, safety and construction best practices are known, taught and implemented
- Problem solves with field execution leaders to ensure barriers are identified ahead of time and addressed prior to field execution
- Ensure all subcontractors, equipment, labour, and material required for the project is accurate and on site when required to ensure completion
- Have a solid understanding of billable and non-billable items on a project and the scope increases
- Maintain a consistent high level understanding of all assigned projects around the areas of project milestones, successes, barriers, and financial status
- 10+ years of experience in construction management
- Any additional relevant certification will be considered an asset
- In depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OH&S guidelines
- Understanding of civil construction including waterworks, underground utilities as well as the ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills
