- Developing and maintaining business relationships with clients;
- Directing field materials testing services on construction projects, reviewing field reports, drafting reports;
- Preparing proposals for material inspection and testing services and geotechnical investigations;
- Carrying out footing base inspections and troubleshooting construction site issues;
- Attending project meetings and carrying out site inspections when technical guidance and support is required;
- Collaborating with staff when dealing with difficult, complex and unusual matters and decisions;
- Planning and overseeing geotechnical investigations from proposal phase to report, including meetings, and client correspondence;
- Co-ordinating with clients, colleagues, suppliers and third parties to accomplish the required project objectives;
- Experience with Geotechnical instrumentation and settlement monitoring programs would be an asset;
- Working independently with little supervision, depending on the complexity of the assignment;
- Liaising with clients, contractors, consultants, municipal staff, and other stakeholders;
- Coaching, mentoring and developing field technicians and EITs.
- P.Eng. Designation from Ontario or ability to obtain P.Eng within one year is required;
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering;
- A minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience in Geotechnical engineering, preferably with experience in materials testing;
- Previous scheduling or coordination experience would be considered a strong asset;
- Development of comprehensive scopes of work to the client's requirements;
- Ensuring that standards and criteria have been met;
- Accurately and appropriately reporting project assignments on schedule;
- Management of multiple projects at one time;
- Experience with complex geotechnical investigations and design work an asset;
- Strong verbal and written (English) communication;
- Ability to exercise diplomacy and tact when interacting with fellow staff, clients, consultants and contractors;
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including multi-tasking and prioritizing;
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- Familiarity with standard construction procedures and methodologies;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Strong Microsoft Word and Excel experience required, knowledge of gINT and AutoCAD would be an asset;
- Valid driver's license and vehicle.
