- Work directly with investment professionals on the Energy, Power and Mining domain team to evaluate potential long and short public and pre-IPO investment opportunities
- With guidance, execute investment research and recommendations leveraging domain expertise and deep fundamental research insights within Energy, Power and Mining sectors
- Develop detailed company financial models and perform valuation analysis, including DCF and comparable company analyses; apply statistical analysis to support investment decisions
- Prepare analytical investment reviews and recommendations in collaboration with the team, including industry overviews, written investment memos and due diligence reviews
- Research, analyze and monitor macro level industry trends and fundamental performance of existing portfolio holdings
- Participate in meetings with company management teams, industry experts and analysts
- Increasingly incorporate research insights by leveraging alternative data sets
- The ideal candidate will possess 6-8 years of experience working for an investment management, private equity, investment bank or management consulting firm
- Deep knowledge and passion for Energy, Power and Mining sectors
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree; engineering and/or an advanced degree (Masters, MBA, etc.) an asset
- Achieved high levels of academic performance and exhibit intellectual curiosity
- Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, technical and problem-solving skills; ability to think creatively
- Core technical skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Bloomberg, CapIQ
- Advanced technical skills: Python, SQL, exposure to Big Data workflows and analytic tools
- Strong communication, written and verbal skills
- Highly detail-oriented with an ability to produce high quality work
- Ability to prioritize work and simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities
