The Molecular Testing Navigator (MTN) will assist in the timely reporting and completeness of molecular and pathology results to patient charts.This will consist of;1) Liaising with pathology departments (internal/external) to ensure timely turn-around of biomarker results;2) Ensure CCO compliant biomarker reporting for HRCP patients;3) Facilitate chart completeness and documentation in the molecular navigation tab in local EMR's (ARIA);4) Assist in the ordering of biomarker/molecular testing. Future roles and responsibilities are subject to discussion and modification;5) Liaising with pathology departments (interna/external) for Clinical Trials Study ParticipantsQualifications:Education:
  • 4 year Undergraduate Degree in Health Sciences preferred
  • Clinical Research Associate designation preferred
Experience:
  • Medical Terminology mandatory
  • 1 year of experience in hospital or clinical trials setting preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an Oncology environment preferred
Competencies:
  • General understanding of molecular testing and biomarkers
  • Demonstrated analytic, problem-solving and attention to detail skills
  • Documented expertise of provincial, national and international regulatory guidelines (e.g. ICH Good Clinical Practice, Health Canada Division 5, PHIPA, PIPEDA, etc.) is compulsory
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and oral communication including the ability to prepare email messages, data reports, facilitate communication between physicians and administrators; and the capacity to pleasantly interact with a large variety of individuals in person and by telephone
  • Proven Good Attendance record
  • Accurately processes all doctor's orders using order entry through MediTech
  • Accurately completes Lab and Pathology requisitions
  • Utilizes excellent customer service skills when answering and directing
  • Demonstrates compassion and empathy to patients and their families in the face of acute and/or chronic illness
Responsibilities:Navigation of Molecular Testing
  • Uploading/tracking down pathology/biomarkers independently and at the direction of the treating medical oncologist
  • Oncotype form completion/ordering/follow up
  • Germline testing form completion/ordering/follow up
  • NGS testing form completion/ordering/follow up
  • Foundation Medicine testing form completion/ordering/follow up
  • Genetics referral form completion/ordering/follow up
  • Bounce back Insufficient pathology results and re-ordering
Administrative Support to the Clinical Trials Manager
  • Provides administrative support to the Clinical Trials Manager as required which may include regulatory/ethics support, generating reports, organizing on-site visits, and other duties as assigned
