Our client, a Canadian leader in high-security data platforms and statutory registry services, is seeking a Senior Architect for their Winnipeg office, to drive the technical evolution of their mission-critical systems. Reporting to the Director, Architecture & Planning, you will move beyond local project support to influence the organizationu0027s national IT Strategic Roadmap.This is a pure architecture role focused on high-level design, stakeholder influence, and strategic planning. Your primary tools will be architectural diagrams, technical roadmaps, and executive presentations.

Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office
Salary $155,000 base salary + 17% bonus

Some Core Initiatives

Composable API Transformation: Lead the transition toward a modern, API-first composable architecture to increase service re-use across multiple jurisdictions.
System Modernization: Drive the end-to-end modernization of backend engines and transition legacy UI frameworks (Adobe) toward modern webform solutions.
AI Strategy: Evaluate and recommend emerging AI tools and use cases to enhance data solutions and operational effectiveness.
Technical Governance: Define optimal design patterns for high availability and disaster recovery within a complex Azure environment.

The Ideal Profile

Former Developer: You must have a foundational background in software development (ideally Java-based) to effectively design for scalability and coach technical staff.
Strategic Visionary: You are comfortable providing "direction" and "thought leadership" on an established yet flexible roadmap.
Expert Communicator: You excel at articulating the "why" behind technical decisions through clear diagrams and business-aligned presentations.
Senior Architect Mindset: We are looking for a true Senior Architect focused on business-aligned solutions, rather than a Systems Architect focused solely on infrastructure/hardware.

Technical Environment

Cloud: Extensive experience with Azure (post-migration optimization).
Stack: Strong understanding of Java applications and Kubernetes orchestration.
Integration: Deep specialization in API design and management.
Governance: Familiarity with DevOps toolchains and information security best practices.

Requirements

10+ years of IT experience with at least 5 years in a dedicated Architecture role.
Proven track record with large-scale, multi-year application re-platforming projects.
Ability to work cross-functionally
