Responsibilities
- Develop and manage departmental budgets relating to labour, spare parts, consumables, equipment overhauls, and capital initiatives to support operational goals.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to analyze data, set priorities, and align maintenance strategies with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
- Ensure the reliability and upkeep of all production equipment, utilities, and building infrastructure to support safe and efficient operations.
- Implement and oversee a proactive preventive maintenance program that improves equipment performance and minimizes downtime within budget targets.
- Establish and maintain maintenance control systems, including work orders, schedules, equipment documentation, and standard procedures.
- Partner with production teams to identify and address equipment and maintenance needs that support operational continuity and efficiency.
- Lead the development and execution of the facility’s capital investment plan, including project evaluation, approval, and management of installations.
- Ensure continuous operation of critical support systems (e.g., compressed air, water, boilers, co-gen, HVAC) to meet production requirements.
- Foster a strong safety culture, ensuring that safe conditions are maintained across all facilities and hazards are addressed promptly.
- Develop and lead high-performing teams through coaching, performance management, skill development, and alignment with business objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the consumer-packaged goods industry
- Proven experience in plant maintenance or engineering, with a solid understanding of equipment reliability and operational support
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and resources effectively
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
- Ability to engage and collaborate with skilled trades personnel to drive performance and continuous improvement
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities
