- Assist project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design of bridges, culverts and other transportation structures.
- Assist project managers and engineers in the design and construction of industrial and/or building projects.
- Prepare documents including construction drawings, contract specifications, calculations, and quantity take off estimates.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, architects and technical and administrative support staff.
- Perform field work for structural assessments, periodic site inspections during construction, construction observation, as well as preparation of follow up reporting.
- Review and respond to shop drawings and submittals during construction activities
- Provide quality client services, with particular emphasis on government and infrastructure contractor clients within the transportation market
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation (initiation and submission), reports and presentations, and client liaison.
- Business travel upon request

- Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
- A degree in civil engineering. Graduate level degree would be an asset
- Licensed to practice as a structural engineer
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in bridge design
- Proficient in the full range of design activities, including preparation of preliminary and detail design drawings and reports, contract document preparation and tendering
- Experienced in the design of various bridge types, culverts and other transportation structures
- Proficiency in the use of computer modeling techniques using SAP2000, CSiBridge, or STAAD and familiarity with current AutoCAD software
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills along with both verbal and written communication
- Proficient technical report and specification writing skills
- Experience in construction contract administration would be an asset
- Experience with bridge maintenance and rehabilitation is an asset
- Experience with projects delivered for the City of Calgary and Alberta Transportation is an asset
