Description :About Us:Maskwa High Voltage, now ENTRUST Canada, is an engineering consulting firm with offices in Calgary and Regina that provides design and engineering services to the electric power delivery industry. Our expertise includes all aspects of Transmission, Substation and Distribution systems for voltages ranging from 4160V to 500kV.*Hybrid Work Environment* 4 days a week in office in Calgary, 1 day a week from home.Opportunity:We are currently seeking an Intermediate Civil Engineer to join our team in Calgary to support the substation and battery energy storage system (BESS) design teams. We offer a dynamic work environment with a highly experienced technical team, where you will be offered guidance, hands-on training and continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process.Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for civil design of site facilities including site layout, earthworks, site grading, utility tie-ins, storm water management and erosion and sediment control.
  • Review designs to ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, client standards, and permitting requirements across various jurisdictions
  • Work closely with other disciplines to coordinate design efforts.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to junior members of the civil design team.
  • Beyond design drawing packages, support preparation of cost estimates, material take offs, scope of work and design basis documents.
  • Prepare relevant Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and engineering reports.
  • Provide engineering support during construction including possibility of travel for site visits and to provide site support during construction.
  • Oversee the preparation of As-Built drawings and project close out data.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with existing clients.
  • Actively promote Safety in Design
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognized institution.
  • 5+ years’ work experience.
  • Proven history in civil design for site facilities including earthworks, site grading, utility tie-ins, storm water management and erosion and sediment control systems.
  • Civil 3D or extensive experience with AutoCAD
  • Strong aptitude for research to develop detailed understandings of local permitting needs as they relate to civil infrastructure.
  • Registered as an active member with APEGA or eligibility for registration.
  • Professional Engineer in Alberta (P.Eng.) or Ontario (PEO).
Preferred:
  • 6-8 years of experience working in civil site grading and earthworks.
  • Previous experience leading a design team and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Previous experience with Hydrological modeling software is an asset (SWMM SWMHYMO, VO-OTTHYMO, etc.).
  • Competency with or willingness to learn a broader range of civil sub-disciplines including foundations, geotechnical and structural
  • Experience in the Electric Utilities sector
  • Experience in other Canadian jurisdictions
