- Provide support for civil design of site facilities including site layout, earthworks, site grading, utility tie-ins, storm water management and erosion and sediment control.
- Review designs to ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, client standards, and permitting requirements across various jurisdictions
- Work closely with other disciplines to coordinate design efforts.
- Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to junior members of the civil design team.
- Beyond design drawing packages, support preparation of cost estimates, material take offs, scope of work and design basis documents.
- Prepare relevant Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and engineering reports.
- Provide engineering support during construction including possibility of travel for site visits and to provide site support during construction.
- Oversee the preparation of As-Built drawings and project close out data.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with existing clients.
- Actively promote Safety in Design
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognized institution.
- 5+ years’ work experience.
- Proven history in civil design for site facilities including earthworks, site grading, utility tie-ins, storm water management and erosion and sediment control systems.
- Civil 3D or extensive experience with AutoCAD
- Strong aptitude for research to develop detailed understandings of local permitting needs as they relate to civil infrastructure.
- Registered as an active member with APEGA or eligibility for registration.
- Professional Engineer in Alberta (P.Eng.) or Ontario (PEO).
- 6-8 years of experience working in civil site grading and earthworks.
- Previous experience leading a design team and mentoring junior engineers.
- Previous experience with Hydrological modeling software is an asset (SWMM SWMHYMO, VO-OTTHYMO, etc.).
- Competency with or willingness to learn a broader range of civil sub-disciplines including foundations, geotechnical and structural
- Experience in the Electric Utilities sector
