This includes lifeguarding, lesson planning and curriculum development, assisting with the instruction of students, assessment and reporting, as well as coordinating, scheduling and staffing for internal aquatics programs. The successful candidate will also contribute to auxiliary aquatics programming as required.The Aquatics Lead’s schedule follows the 10-month academic calendar with vacation time aligning with school holidays and closures. The hours for this position are generally during school programming hours, which can vary and include early morning practices at 7:00 am and/or after school programs and dismissal, after 4:00 pm.Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:Collaborate with the Junior School to design, deliver and lead a cohesive, developmentally appropriate swim program that supports differentiated, inquiry-based learning and skills-based experiences.Lead the assessment, evaluation, and reporting process for the Junior School swim program (JK - Grade 6), including the design of assessment tools to report card comments.Work collaboratively with the Middle and Senior School Health Physical Education team to design and deliver the written and taught swim curriculum program and evaluations for Grade 7–10 as well as support other HPE units.Lead the design and ongoing refinement of the swim scope and sequence, aligning with curriculum expectations and progression of skills across grade levels.Support the swim program during Student Well-being Activity Program (SWAP).Facilitate co-curricular swim times for Junior School students, employees and alum.Collaborate with the Aquatics and Athletics & Wellness Centre (AWC) teams to coordinate curricular/co-curricular weekday pool hours with auxiliary program hours, and provide support for auxiliary programs as required.Coach swim teams during the fall and winter terms and manages all on-site and off-site swim meet logistics.Participate in the hiring of aquatics staff and prepare schedules ensuring coverage as needed throughout the day.Oversee the purchase and care of pool equipment, materials and supplies.Updates the pool manual, pool regulations, pool signage and the pool office to industry, provincial and local standards and policies are enforced.Liaise weekly with Housekeeping and Facilities in order to ensure proper care and cleaning of the pool deck and pool features in order to adhere to all safety regulations.Candidate Profile:Related post-secondary training and/or 3+ years of relevant experience, including experience in a coordinating roleThe following certificates are required to be up-to-date:National Lifeguard certificateStandard First Aid (AED & CPR-C certificate)Lifesaving Society Swim and Lifesaving certificateAdditional Lifesaving Society Examiner and advanced leadership certifications are an assetExperience working with young children and ability to build rapport with various stakeholdersExperience developing and planning a variety of swim programming aligned with curriculum needsAcademic or IB related experience is a strong assetAbility to learn new technologies including Google Classroom, Blackbaud, etc.Working knowledge of pool filtration systems, implications of the Ontario Pool Regulations 565 and OCA StandardsStrong organizational skills and effective communication and interpersonal skills;Strong team player and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including parents, students and colleagues;Why Join Branksome Hall:Joining Branksome Hall will change your life.
