- Significant experience with interpreting the WSCB Act and Regulations and the Workplace compliance standards.
- Significant experience in conducting workplace inspections, incident investigations, and workplace audits for industrial operations.
- Significant experience developing, reviewing, and updating safety policies, Safe Work Practices, and Safe Job Procedures in collaboration with subject matter experts to support operations and maintenance in industrial and administrative settings.
- Strong computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Completed Incident Investigation training and the Internal Auditor Course
- A proactive approach to safety and service
- Ability to provide professional, quality training to a diverse group of employees
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; which promotes respect, dependability and reliability
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and external stakeholders
- Motivated to learn
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated and adaptable to changing conditions
- Experience administering Safety Management Systems (e.g., Workhub), Fleet Management Systems, and communication devices (e.g., InReach, VHF radios, satellite phones)
- Must have and maintain a Yukon Class 5 driver's licence.
- TMB certification on light-duty vehicles must be obtained within 1 month of hire),
- Transportation Dangerous Goods and WHMIS Certificate (must be obtained within 1 month of hire),
- Intermediate first aid certification,
- Travel;
- Working in adverse weather conditions;
- Working outside of headquarters area for extended periods of time;
- Mandatory use of personal protective equipment.
