- Lead the month-end close process for assigned areas, ensuring timely completion and accurate reporting.
- Prepare and post recurring and non-routine journal entries, including accruals and adjustments, with appropriate documentation and analysis.
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and continuity schedules, ensuring accounts are complete, accurate, and reviewed on a regular basis.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting and variance analysis for management.
- Prepare and maintain audit working papers and supporting documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of financial information for executive reporting.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial systems.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and financial controls.
- Coordinate with external auditors and assist with audit requirements.
- Work closely with operations and project teams to ensure financial results reflect operational activity.
- Coordinate financial close activities with internal stakeholders across departments.
- Support financial analysis and reporting that assists leadership with decision-making.
- Mentor and support the development of accounting staff.
- Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance team.
- Perform additional finance-related responsibilities as required to support business operations.
- Enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) or later stages of the CPA designation program.
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
- Experience in the construction, aggregates, or related industries is considered an asset.
- Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is considered an asset.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with operations and project teams.
- Self-motivated with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
- Comply with all workplace policies and procedures related to risk identification, risk assessment, and risk control.
- Participate in activities supporting the company’s occupational health and safety program.
- Identify and report workplace hazards, incidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Participate in safety meetings as required.
- Office-based environment.
- Standard work schedule of approximately 40 hours per week; occasional additional hours may be required during peak reporting periods.
- Extended periods of sitting, computer use, and data analysis.
