The Rotman Research Institute at Baycresthas an exciting opportunity for aRESEARCH ASSISTANTLevel IPosition Number: 9723Position Type: Temporary Full Time (Up to 12 Months)Shift Type: DayBi-Weekly Hours: 70 HoursLocation: TorontoUnion: Non-UnionDate Posted: April 1, 2026Job Summary:The Rotman Research Institute is a premier international centre for the study of human brain function with a primary research focus on memory and the executive functions of the brain, both in normal aging and in the presence of neurological diseases and conditions which affect the brain. The Division of Neurology and the Baycrest Sam & Ida Ross Memory Clinic have an opportunity for an on-site Research Assistant. The Division of Neurology provides clients with timely, quality, evidence-based medical care, guided by the mission and principles of Baycrest and University of Toronto, regulated by the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care, to the standards set out by the College of Physicians of Ontario, & within the Baycrest Medical Staff by-laws and Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation guidelines.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Serves as primary contact for multiple studies/sites
  • Recruits and screens patients for eligibility for current studies based on established criteria
  • Conducts and documents informed consent
  • Monitors study progress and ensures proper documentation and follow-up on studies
  • Generates study-specific documents
  • Assists with data collection and testing
  • Serves as a liaison to physicians, investigators, participants and other staff members regarding the research process
  • Assists with and/or reviews Research Ethics Board documents
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, neuroscience, psychology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with neurobehavioural and/or neurocognitive assessments (e.g., MoCA, MMSE etc.) preferred
  • Prior experience conducting or supporting research studies in cognition, memory, dementia, or related fields preferred
  • Experience working with a geriatric population with neurodegenerative diseases, and their caregivers preferred
  • Experience with data capture applications (e.g. REDCap)
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills

Our salary ranges are structured to support progression, from learning the role to demonstrating full proficiency.The target hiring range is $39,873to $54,826 per year.Your placement within the target hiring range will depend on your job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, and relevant education and experience, as well as considerations such as market conditions and internal equity.
