Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).This position is intended for a student currently enrolled in the Graduate Program of Sound Recording at the Schulich School of Music (SSM) or with approval of the Sound Recording Area Coordinator, currently enrolled in the SR qualifying year.Hiring Unit:Communications & ProductionPosition Summary:
  • Liaise with clients to discuss technical needs;
  • Coordinate technical requirements and reserve space for demo recordings;
  • Organize required equipment;
  • Attend dress rehearsal/sound check to confirm microphone placements;
  • Set up equipment prior to the start of the rehearsal/concert;
  • Record the event;
  • Regulate levels and mix during recording;
  • Perform audio and/or video post-production work as required;
  • Mix and edit recording upon request by the Communications & Production;
  • Strike and return equipment after the concert;
  • Prepare files for delivery in required digital formats to be delivered within two (2) weeks of the recording.
Other qualifying skills and/or abilities:Must be a student currently enrolled in the Graduate Program of Sound Recording of the SSM or, with approval of Sound Recording Area Coordinator, be enrolled in the Qualifying Year of the Sound Recording program at the SSM. Must have full knowledge of the SSM venues (internal and external) and the associated audio and video equipment including digital audio workstation software. Knowledge of standard stereo microphone techniques, be client-focused, pro-active and professional. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others (artists, faculty, external clients). Must be able to work under strict timelines.
