Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).This position is intended for a student currently enrolled in the PhD Program of Sound Recording at the Schulich School of Music (SSM).Unit: Communications & ProductionPrimary responsibilities:
  • Assist with the organization and execution of concert recordings, live sound support, and webcasting for concerts and events under the direction of Communications and Production;
  • Concert Recording: record the concert and deliver final product to the Production Office within two (2) weeks of the concert;
  • Sound support: performs sound check prior to the start of the concert; operates the soundboard; monitors audio volume and sound quality during the concert/event; assists with studio upkeep tasks or oversee the work of qualifying year or Masters students in the Sound Recording Program;
  • Organize equipment; attend dress rehearsal (unless there is a conflict with a scheduled class);
  • Set up equipment prior to the start of the concert;
  • Undertakes and completes various tasks requested by Communications and Production and the Sound Recording Faculty as needed, in the various labs and studios within the SSM.
Other qualifying skills and/or abilities:Must be currently enrolled as a Ph.D. student in the Sound Recording program of the SSM, have full working knowledge of the SSM concert halls/event spaces and associated recording equipment including digital audio workstation software. Knowledge of standard stereo microphone techniques; client-focused, pro-active and professional. Demonstrated ability to work with a wide-ranging clientele including students, faculty members and external clients. Must be able to work under strict timelines. Ability to communicate effectively in English written and spoken.
